Indoor Gardening Show

Call for Submissions

Based on the success of our two gardening shows this year we wanted to finish the year strong by showcasing creative approaches to low-input, high yield, indoor food growing, its techniques and technology.

Transforming *Hotshot into a indoor farm the show will demonstrate how to supply high quality, local food when traditionally it has to be transported from warmer climates. The goal of the show is to encourage the production of food at home and make accessible the materials and methods to do it yourself.
 

Submissions can include:

  • Working samples of low to high tech growing systems (traditional and LED lighting, window box, bag and tray sprouting…)
  • Still images, illustrations, and video of your working indoor growing systems
  • Small to large scale indoor food growing applications (kitchen counter to greenhouses)
  • Simple products or kits to help in the growing of food (worm bins, jars, lights, seeds…)
  • Input stages of farming (soil building, composting)
  • Playful/designed ways of growing food
  • Transitional growing of plants (bringing sensitive plants indoors, preparing seedlings for the spring planting)
  • Food storage and preservation, methods of extending access to local, seasonal foods

Additional Information for you:
 

There is no fee to be part of the exhibition. You are welcome to sell your work during the show and *Hotshot will add a prearranged commission.
 

The show is set to run for several weeks.

OPEN SPACE  -  Call for Proposals!

*Hotshot is looking for proposals for unique activities/shows for our new "Open Space" series.

We sometimes have days or weeks in between shows when the space is empty and full of creative opportunity.

Open Space will be a series of activities/events/shows which are pre-developed and pre-planned but spontaneous and elastic in schedule.

Help us create something fun, interactive and informal - we welcome bright new ideas that challenge and play with the conventional ideas of art shows and exhibitions.

Here are some of the ideal qualities we are looking for in your proposal

  • Easy to setup and breakdown
  • Works as an activity/event/performance and finished product
  • Encourages people to get involved, have fun, participate and play

  • Any special requirements if applicable
  • There is no deadline for Open Space proposals, but please send in your ideas ASAP we're looking forward to hearing from you!
