*About Us

Who is *Hotshot?

*Hotshot is an exhibition, event and retail space in the heart of Toronto's Kensington Market. Our goal is to create a space that is true to the character of the market by providing a venue that is open and accessible to all. We showcase creativity, unique events and provide a modular and customizable space for rentals and bookings.

*Hotshot is a group of local artists, designers and creative entrepreneurs who have been active in the Kensington market and the Toronto arts community for quite some time. We strive to create a space that is true to the character of the market by providing a venue that is open and accessible to all.

John Smaller
Founder

John Smaller discovered the cultural landmark that is Kensington Market over twenty years ago and has made it part of his daily ritual ever since.

His professional career began as an originating partner of Implosive Media, and for the past five years, he has been working with mixMotion - a VJ crew dedicated to transforming the art of live visual environments.

For the past few years John has been working with friends and business partners to open a modular conceptual space in Kensington Market. This space will act as a hub for a broad spectrum of creative people to meet, interact and show off their work; this space is *Hotshot.
